grOw/cOmic#6, final page completed!

Page 154, the final page of both the issue and the entire series, has been completed. grOw/cOmic#6's 8-issue, 2-year, 154-page run is coming to an end. It's been a long journey, but hopefully one you've enjoyed as a 10-year celebration and sequel to "Milk Farm", the first grOw comic released back in July 2005. Now I have to go into post-production mode, and do a final review (and make any corrections), create the PDFs (standard, premium, and art-only), create the store & website graphics, upload and set-up the cart, and launch this huge, 23-page climactic issue! Hang in there — we are soooo close!

grOw/cOmic#6, page 153 completed!

Just before the Thanksgiving holiday weekend (here in the U.S.), I was able to complete the penultimate page of the series, page 153. That means only 1 more page to go in the grOw/cOmic#6, both lats issue and the complete series! Post-production work is already beginning; my wife is in the process of proofreading, and I have been making needed changes. Hang in there!  Release next week!

grOw/cOmic#6, page 152 completed!

I didn't want this page to go into a third day of production, so I worked a little later to get it done. (Friday had some delays with other "real life" work.) With the added work, I was successful and completed page 152 tonight! We are in the home stretch now!  21 pages done, 2 to go!

grOw/cOmic#6, page 151 completed!

Racing towards the finish line, page 151 of grOw/cOmic#6 ("Milking the Plot") has been completed!  This is the 20th page out of 23 of this issue (Issue 8, "Climax"). That means we only have 3 more pages to go!  We are getting so close to completion!  I hope to finish 2 pages next week (hopefully, as Thursday is a major holiday here in the US, which usually spills over into Friday). Then the final page early the following week.  If so, then my goal is to release this final issue of this series between Nov 30 — Dec 2.  Hang in there!

grOw/cOmic#6, page 150 completed!

Working hard, I just barely finished page 150 today. I wasn't sure if I would be able to do so, due to all the special effects — lighting, liquid, and background compositing. The page came out great! Getting close to the end!  19 pages done, 4 to go! And because of this, as mentioned earlier, previews will be very vague, in order to not reveal the ending.

grOw/cOmic#6, page 149 completed!

No way!  Previews 3 days in a row?!  Why, yes!  I made great progress today, and finished up page 149, which not only is the third preview in so many days, but the 4th preview this week! Whoot!  And just because a page takes less time, doesn't mean it's a boring page. Oh, no. Hot and heavy action going on here!  Let's hope the next 2 weeks go just as well!  Countdown to release — 18 pages done, 5 to go!

grOw/cOmic#6, page 148 completed!

Made some great progress today, finishing page 148 the day after the last page. The last page was completed mid-day, yesterday, which gave me a lot of time to work on this one. Less faces and special effects were required for this page, and thus, I was able to complete it today. 17 pages done, 6 to go!

grOw/cOmic#6, page 147 completed!

Still working away at a good clip with few slow-downs, I was able to complete page 147 this early afternoon. Background renderings have gone a lot quicker recently, as more and more of the frames are filled with skin rather than barn. ;)  The previews will be getting more and more vague as we enter the final 7 pages of not just this issue, but of this 8-issue, 154-page series. I don't want to give away too much of the ending.

grOw/cOmic#6, page 146 completed!

I had actually hoped that I could have finished page 146 this past Friday.  The page was simple enough to do so (especially since I had gotten a great head start on it on Thursday after completing page 145). However, I hadn't taken into account the incredible amount of work to produce the "special effects" (namely certain liquid effects) that were required on this page. In fact, I think the top panel of this page contains the most intense usage of liquid effects EVER in the grOw series, and I am extremely pleased on how it turned out. 15 pages done, 8 to go! (65% complete!)

grOw/cOmic#6, page 145 completed!

Well, the latest page took a tad longer than usual (a couple of morning hours on the third day). Page 145 had a number of special effects (lots of liquids, blur effects, and combining 3D-rendered background items and hand-drawn characters. 14 down, 9 to go! The good thing is that with the completion of this page so early in the day, I will get a great start on the next page in the same day.

grOw/cOmic#6, page 144 completed!

Moving right along, I was able to complete page 144 this afternoon. Considering the number of effects and complicated silhouetting required (not in preview, but you will see in the complete product), I am surprised I got this page done so quickly. :D   13 pages done, 10 to go (56.5% complete).

grOw/cOmic#6, page 143 completed!

Trying to get back on track, after a major 2-week slowdown, I was able to finish another page within a normal 2-day timeframe. Whoot!  With the completion of page 143, we are now officially past the halfway mark of issue 8!  12 pages done, 11 to go!  There is lots of character interaction going on, which takes a bit more time since overlapping body parts take longer to mask out and color individually. But that interaction is a good thing, isn't it?  ;)

grOw/cOmic#6, page 142 completed!

This is getting old, and I believe it will end soon. Interference from "real life" projects (one in particular which has been a freakin' bear and a royal pain in the ass) has delayed the latest pages once again. However, I refused to let one more day go without having a preview to show. (Note: the complexity of this latest page also was the reason why extra time due to many frames, faces, character overlapping and special effects). So, without further ado, I present the preview to page 142, which is page 11 of 23 in the issue, which is just before the halfway mark! I truly hope the pace will be going back to normal very soon.

grOw/cOmic#6, page 141 completed!

"Real life" work is still trying to dampen my progress on the last issue, but I am doing my best to push through it and get this issue done. It took an extra day, but then page 141 is high on the frame count, face count, and body count, and has plenty of visual effects required. Considering all that, I guess I did quite well.  :)   10 pages done, 13 to go!

grOw/cOmic#6, page 140 completed!

I couldn't quite get the latest page done in a 2-day window as usual, but it came close. An extra 1/2 day was needed on page 140 due to a little "real life" work getting in the way, as well as extra time needed for certain visual effects that were more difficult than I had anticipated (but still worked out quite well).

9 pages down, 14 to go.  We well passed the one-third mark, and stand at 39% completion of the issue. Hang in there!

(BTW, have you seen the new "Rogue One" trailer released today?  Sweet! Watch it on YouTube )

grOw/cOmic#6, page 139 completed!

Well — FINALLY — I was able to complete the latest page, page 139. It's been a VERY hectic week in terms of my "real life" job and some incredibly tight client deadlines that popped up out of nowhere last week (and hinted at in my last update). I had no idea my time would have been so monopolized as it was by this work. That project is still not done, but is very close to completion. I hope its interruption of "grOw time" will be minimal over the next few days and I can get back to work and make some great progress on the next few pages. Hang in there, and sorry for the delay!

grOw/cOmic#6, page 138 completed!

When it rains, it pours, and "real life" work suddenly got in the way of some of the progress on the current page (p. 138). I should have finished this yesterday, but unrealistic client requests got in the way. But I pushed on through and completed the page today. Yay!  Almost to the one-third mark, we have 7 down, 16 to go in this grand, final issue.

grOw/cOmic#6, page 137 completed!

It was a good thing that the previous page was finished in less-than-average time since the latest page (p.137) took longer than usual! A lot of panels, figures and faces, and some effects went into crafting the latest page. All this work took about 2-1/2 days, and I was just barely able to finish at the end of that time. Not all previews usually show this much detail, but I couldn't resist! Enjoy!

Page 136 of grOw/cOmic#6 completed!

Cruising right along, and completed the latest page (page 136) in less than a day-and-a-half. I almost thought I would finish it in 1 day, but a few interruptions, and an over estimation of the simplicity of the page defeated that idea. 5 pages done, 18 to go (nearly 22% finished)!
