grOw/cOmic#6, page 137 completed!

It was a good thing that the previous page was finished in less-than-average time since the latest page (p.137) took longer than usual! A lot of panels, figures and faces, and some effects went into crafting the latest page. All this work took about 2-1/2 days, and I was just barely able to finish at the end of that time. Not all previews usually show this much detail, but I couldn't resist! Enjoy!

Page 136 of grOw/cOmic#6 completed!

Cruising right along, and completed the latest page (page 136) in less than a day-and-a-half. I almost thought I would finish it in 1 day, but a few interruptions, and an over estimation of the simplicity of the page defeated that idea. 5 pages done, 18 to go (nearly 22% finished)!

grOw/cOmic#6, pages 134 and 135 completed!

Huh!  I hadn't realized that I had forgotten to post page 134 after I completed it on Wednesday. When I came here today, I saw my last post was Monday. Oops!  Well, not to worry that suddenly progress had not been made — I was able to get 2 more pages done this week for a total of 3! Along with 134, I was able to complete page 135 before week's end! So, while you may have missed me for the past few days, the bonus is that you got 2 previews for the weekend!

grOw/cOmic#6, page 132 completed!

The first page of the last issue (page 132) has been completed! You will notice that this preview is the color version of one of the pencil previews for this issue. We also now begin the countdown to the completion of the "Milking the Plot" series. It's been a great run, and I look forward to completing the story of Connie, Dan, Lidiya, Karisha, Feeona, and Gwen. So buckle in, and get ready for the previews...

grOw/cOmic#6, final issue, pencils completed!

All pages have now been drawn, and the pages scanned and cleaned up, ready for the ink and paint stage!  23 pages in all, this will be the longest grOw/cOmic issue ever! I can now begin the ink and paint stage of the issue and post full-color previews as I do. (Note: the previews may become vaguer and vaguer as to not give away the storyline and ending of the issue/series.)

Drawing of grOw/cOmic#6, issue 8 closer to completion

I was able to get a lot of work done this week on the last issue of the grOw/cOmic#6 ("Milking the Plot") series. I continued drawing and was able to finish another 8 full pages (18 of 23 now drawn). This took quite a bit of background set-ups first, using my 3D program, so that the characters matched the scene perfectly (28 shots). It also took some "model building" time, as new background scenes were needed. And some of these were for the last 5 pages, so I will be ready to draw next week! Right now, I am scanning in each drawing (taking 2 scans each, since the page is so large) and compositing them.

The one thing I learned in this issue is that BE authors have it easy. Sure, you have to describe a scene with detail, but you can leave some of it vague and let the reader fill it in. An artist must supply every detail, and even more challenging, make it work to the laws of physics.  (In creating one of the grOw/stOries, I had to go back to the author and ask him to re-write a particular passage. It seemed to make sense in text. But when I started to draw it, and tried to figure out where each arm, leg, head, and boob would go, I realized the human body doesn't work that way.)  I had to change a few scenes ever so slightly in this last issue for the same reason. Things just got too big.

grOw/cOmic#6, pencils and background building continues

All the pre-production and "back lot work" continues on issue 8 of grOw/cOmic#6!  In the past week, another 8 pages of backgrounds and camera set-ups (34 images) were created and another 8 pages were pencil drawn. Chip, chip, chip.  I can't wait to begin the ink-and-paint stage of this issue! "It's gonna' be huuuge."
