grOw/cOmic#5, page 41 completed!

Whew — page 41 was sure a complicated one, with many faces, textures, overlapping of characters, background matching, etc., etc. But I was able to get it finished before the weekend! The next page might prove to be similarly complex, so it may take almost as long. We are now passed the 1/4th mark (5 pages out of 19) for the issue. Hang in there!

grOw/cOmic#5, page 40 completed!

Unfortunately, this seems to happen a often enough: I am cruising along on a page, and just when I begin to think I will easily finish it by the end of the day, the panels prove to be more complicated that originally thought, and the work spills over into the next day. This is exactly what happened to page 40. It's not terrible, but it's just enough to make a page into a "2-day'er" rather than a "1-day'er". Ah, well.  :)  On to page 41...

(Note: I also realized that the last few previews were the "old" size of 300px x 300px. I fixed that with this one, retruning to the "new" size of 400px x 400px.)

grOw/cOmic#5, page 39 completed!

Just a little too much "RL" work prevented me from finishing this page within the 1-2 days I had wanted as my deadline for page 39. But, I was finally able to finish it before the third day ended.  This page did turn out to be a little more complicated than I first thought, so that may have contributed as well.  Lot's of textures, shadows, interaction with the backgrounds, and more.Enjoy the preview!  It's now on to page 40.

grOw/cOmic#5, page 38 completed!

Progressing along with only a few small slow downs, I was able to complete the 2nd page of the issue, page 38, today. I am going to do my best to keep the pace of production of this issue as steady as I can, so as to make up some of the time lost in the last 2 months. Enjoy the preview!

grOw/cOmic#5, page 37 completed!

It's good to get back into the ink and painting stage once again.  However, it's not like there hasn't been a lot of work done on issue 3 up until this point. In fact, I can guarantee that the most pre-production work has gone into this issue more than any other issue of grOw. There was a lot more planning of panels and camera angles using Poser and Shade (the program that renders my 3D backgrounds). Getting the slowly changing size ratio between characters just right was paramount. Plus, I had to make sure a person of size "x" could fit the pose I needed.  ;D

Yes, we are getting to that point! Issue 3, titled "Intermission" will see characters getting much bigger and situations much steamier! As the sneak preview at the end of the last chapter said, the themes for issue 3 are : BE, AE, sexual situations (mF), foot play, miniGTS (<40’).

GC#3, issue 3 pencils completed! Ink and Painting to start

I finished the last 3 pages of issue 3 in pencil form. I was also able to completed the scanning of all pages of the issue and prepping them for final ink and painting. This "prepping" includes resizing, recompositing, or adjusting a drawing I didn't like how it came out. I also resized parts of drawings that I drew larger for ease, but needed them to be much smaller in the frame. I actually have a "working" copy of the entire issue, all in pencil form, including rough narrations and dialogue balloons. Now, starting tomorrow, it's off to the ink and paint stage, of which each page will allow me to post a mini-preview as work progresses!  Whoot!

grOw/cOmic#5, issue 3 pencils nearly done!

Well, I had truly hoped (and expected) that I would have had all of the pencil drawings and scanning for issue 3 to have been done by this weekend. Unfortunately, life can take some sudden unexpected turns. In what seems to be a normally occurring phenomenon, a number of my "RL work" clients all came out of the woodwork on the same day for some last minute work after weeks (or months) of inactivity. Sometimes, I think they call each other and plan it that way. Making it even worse was the fact that I seriously strained my lower back a few days ago, making sitting at my drawing table difficult. Hell, just standing and walking is extremely difficult.

However, the "RL" projects are wrapping up, my back is (slowly) getting better, and I have completed the drawings for 16 of the 19 pages for issue 3. (Yep! There will be an extra page in issue 3!) I really want to begin the ink/paint stage this week, and I am going to make a serious effort to do so. This, of course, will begin the usual showing of page-by-page color previews. For now, here is a pencil preview from issue 3. Enjoy!
