grOw/cOmic#5, page 62 completed!

Three days, three pages!  That's the tally this week with the completion of page 62! I am making great progress! The "RL" work that I expected came in much later than I thought, so I was able to put a good amount of time today working on this latest page. I wasn't able to post it to the blog until late, as that "RL work" needed some attention (boy, it's been a long 14 hour work day). This is the seventh page of the issue of 20 pages, which means we are past the one-third mark! Hopefully, I will be able to keep up this steady pace over the next few weeks and get issue #4 released as soon as possible!

grOw/cOmic#5, page 61 completed!

Whoot!  Another day, another page. "RL" work gave me a short reprieve, so I was able to make some great progress today by starting and completing page 61. I know the work load will come back in the later part of the week, so I am not sure if I will be able to pump out another page this quickly before Friday. We shall see. But this page really came out nice. The use of Poser was essential to get the right dramatic angles. To visualize the figures and their interaction with the background with these camera angles would have been impossible any other way.

grOw/cOmic#5, page 60 completed!

Chip, chip, chip — progress continues on issue #4 with the completion of page 60. Integration between drawings and the rendered backgrounds is getting a little trickier now, as the available space is getting... ahem... tighter, and alignment between the two is important. But it is all coming along quite well, so far! With this preview, we've hit the 25% mark of the issue. Hang in there! It's going to be a good one!

grOw/cOmic#5, page 59 completed!

I was hoping to have 2 previews to show this week, and with the completion of page 59 this afternoon, I made my goal! "RL" work is still slowing me on the "grOw" front, taking up time, but I am persevering through the workload.

grOw/cOmic#5, page 58 completed!

I was able to take advantage of the Martin Luther King, Jr holiday and get another page done!  You may recognize page 58's preview from the initial pencil previews for this issue from a few weeks back.  I am making good progress, and hopefully, I will continue to do so. Enjoy the preview!

grOw/cOmic#5, page 57 completed!

I know it's been a while since my last update, but know that progress is still being made on issue 4, "A Huge Smash!".  "Real life" graphic design work has really come down on me since early December. This is quite common for this time of year — the ending of one year, and the beginning of another, a time for clients to end or begin new projects. I expect this crunch to start to ease somewhat soon, and eventually return to normal.

But during this time, work on the next issue has continued, including the completion of page 57. Not only that, but the rendering of backgrounds continues. I've mentioned this before, but it is a lot of work, and takes time — a few backgrounds have even taken 10-12 hours to render.  For now, enjoy the preview to page 57, and hopefully, I will have at least 1 or 2 previews next week.

grOw/cOmic#5, page 56 completed!

Well, we're off to a good start with the completion of the first page of issue 4 — page 56.  This is the start of an extra-long, 20-page issue. The next few previews may be a little slower in coming than normal, as I have a huge workload on my plate for "real life" work. I will still be working on grOw, but won't be able to keep the pace as other issues — at least for the next 3 weeks. Hang in there!  This will be a great issue and the wait will be worth it!

grOw/cOmic#5, issue 4 pencils completed!

The final pencil drawn page for issue 4 of grOw/cOmic#5, "grOwing Appreciation" has been completed!  It was a long haul, but I finally finished the last page of the issue — page 75.  If you do the math from last issue, you will realize that this will make this issue 20 pages long — 2 more than the standard! There is a lot going on in this issue, and another 2 pages were needed to tell the story right! It's going to be a good one, so hang in there!  Digital inking and painting are about to begin, as all pages have been scanned and reworked where needed. As usual, as the coloring of each page is completed, I will be showing a preview for that page here. Thanks for being patient — holidays and "real life" work have been slowing me down a bit for the past month or so.
